The Long Beach Veterans Day Parade & Celebration has grown far beyond anything former Councilman Jerry Shultz imagined back in 1996. His original goal was to create a patriotic event in Long Beach. The very first year the Committee passed a hat to get enough money to buy incidentals. The first few years were very low key, then the parade began to grow, not only in size but also in notoriety. About ten years ago the Committee began working with Pageantry Events a professional parade production company. Now in our 21st year, the Parade has grown from it’s humble beginnings into a family-oriented event.

Today the parade has a military grand marshal, a honorary grand marshal and a three divisional marshals.

One hundred and eight men from Long Beach were killed in Vietnam and they were never recognized by their own City. Now, more than ever, we need to let our troops and veterans know that they are supported and that we appreciate their service to our Country.
