YMCA Bikes for Kids
Description
YMCA Bikes for Kids is a program of the YMCA of Greater Long Beach that gives bicycles, helmets and locks to third graders at underserved schools. Students enter an essay contest about how a bike would help their community, then volunteers build the bikes for a giveaway assembly and fitting. The program has given away more than 1,000 bikes. Supporters can donate.
